The Access Bellingham Office Donation Supports Ending Veteran Isolation Through Sustainable Agriculture

Bellingham, WA — Dec. 2018 — Access Corp – the largest privately-held records and information management (RIM) services provider worldwide – today announced that its Bellingham, WA office donated $2,500 to Growing Veterans.  This Bellingham community non-profit is focused on reducing veteran suicide through work on its farm to combat isolation.

When the Access team in Bellingham won $2,500 in a company-wide video creation contest, they unanimously decided to donate their winnings to the Growing Veterans Organization –an organization they have supported in the past by volunteering on-site and with donations through an incentive program with clients.  For the last several years, between Memorial Day and Independence Day, for every records storage box an Access Bellingham customer added to its inventory, Access donated 4% of the cost to Growing Veterans.

“As one of the smallest branches at Access, winning this contest  provided an opportunity to give to this great cause in a way we could hardly achieve on our own,” said Diana Roley, Access  Market Leader, Bellingham.” We truly believe in the mission and vision of the organization, and value the positive impact it has had on the Bellingham community, supporting veterans through its work with bees and agriculture.”

Growing Veterans plans to use the donation to expand its bee program by purchasing more bees from a local Vietnam Veteran and more bee suits so it can facilitate additional group sessions by the beehives throughout the summer months.

Since opening its doors in 2015, Growing Veterans has been using its farm as a catalyst for human connection and veteran reintegration. Believing the root cause of many issues facing veterans today is social isolation, Growing Veterans uses its farm as a platform, providing a space where veterans can work together, support each other, and engage with the broader community to have a full and successful transition home.

“As a company, we are committed to supporting our local communities and giving back,” said Rob Alston, CEO of Access.  “This wonderful donation and support that our Bellingham office has provided to Growing Veterans makes us all incredibly proud.”
