Summer 2016 Explorer: Doing Good and Spreading Joy

Our Summer 2016 Explorer has just been released, and we thought we’d share the top 10 stories of our Team Members volunteering their time and helping others:

Access Cleveland tag - Brandon Kucinich

1. Positively HEROIC (and Selfless)
Cleveland Hard Copy Specialist, Brandon Kucinich, witnessed a pickup truck swerve off the road in front of him, pulled over and used his sport coat to get over a razor wire fence separating him from the truck. He waited for emergency personnel to arrive, despite being late for a wedding he was attending.

Access Costa Rica - sponsoring the Orphan House: San Jose

2. Helping Kids in Costa Rica
Access Costa Rica is sponsoring the Orphan House: San Jose by collecting and donating needed items, helping with maintenance and repairs, and organizing activities for the kids. The orphanage takes care of more than 80 children, from newborns through 12 years’ old, and was in dire need of helping hands.

Access Conferences - partnering with Special Olympics

3. Partnering with the Special Olympics
We’ve partnered with the Special Olympics and are making donations to the event based on attendee participation with our interactive conference booths. Conference attendees are also given the chance to send inspiring messages to USA athletes competing in the 2017 Winter Games in Austria.

Access Cincinnati - Shared Harvest Event

4. Sharing Our Time to Help Others
Access Cincinnati Team Members donated their time at the Shared Harvest Foodbank (SHF) to create food packages for seniors and children. They packed 360 boxes containing dried/canned food for local seniors, and over 1,800 backpacks of food for children!

Access - Earth Day 2016 Success

5. Celebrating Earth Day 2016
Thanks to the participation of our local branches at this year’s National Shred Event, we collected more than 100,000 pounds of paper for shredding and recycling, as well as food and monetary donations to support local food banks!

Access Washington D.C. - Book it for books

6. Booking it for Books
Team Washington D.C. joined Reading is Fundamental of Northern Virginia for the “Book It For Books” 5K Race to provide books to children and schools. The Team also donated $500 from their branch’s Thrive Award to this worthy cause!

Access Oregon with the Oregon Community Credit Union

7. Shredding for a Reason
Access Oregon partnered with the Oregon Community Credit Union for their annual ShredFest event, which resulted in over 22 tons of paper material for shredding! A portion of the fiber proceeds benefited a local food pantry.

Access New Jersey - Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community

8. Walking the Extra Mile
Access New Jersey embraced the heat and participated in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community, which supports the Safe Harbor of Easton, PA transitional shelter for homeless men and women.

Access Brazil - Red Cross donation

9. Cold Weather, Warm Hearts
With winter approaching in Brazil, the São Paulo and Itupeva Teams joined together and donated over 1,320 pounds of winter clothes to the Brazilian Red Cross.

Access Indianapolis - Day at the track

10. Taking Race Fans to the Next Level
Access Indy shuttled current and prospective clients to a private suite at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway – where they got to explore the pits and meet the drivers as they prepared for the Indianapolis 500!
