When it comes to being Positively Different, members of the Access family often go above and beyond, and this holiday season was no exception. Across the nation, many of our regional offices turned their efforts towards spreading holiday cheer to less fortunate members of their communities. Even some of our clients got into the spirit, partnering with Access to truly make it a holiday to remember.
Tacoma, WA
Recently, Team Tacoma discovered that Brass Key, a long-time Access client and specialty doll maker, had excess inventory that, if no other use was found for it, would be destroyed. Upon hearing that, the Team put their brains to work. The first organization that came to mind was our client Treehouse, a Seattle-based non-profit that helps foster children. Treehouse strives to create supportive, fulfilling opportunities for children in foster care so that they can have enriching childhoods and hopeful futures.
Brass Key was thrilled when Access approached them about the opportunity to donate their extra dolls to Treehouse instead. Together, they coordinated a pickup and drop-off of 40 dolls which, we can only imagine, made quite a few children very happy this year. If you’re interested in supporting Treehouse’s important mission, check out their website for information on how you can help.
Orlando, FL
Meanwhile, in Orlando, our local Access Team was also hard at work coordinating a large donation to Kids Beating Cancer, a foundation established to help children and their families as they fight to stay positive and find a cure. The Orlando Team spent an early Sunday morning loading up Access vans with 20 bicycles and more than 150 presents before transporting the toys to the organization’s annual Christmas event at Disney. Their generous donations surely lit up many young faces that day! If you’re also looking for ways you can help, Kids Beating Cancer provides multiple options.
Sarasota, FL
In nearby Sarasota, our Team Members came together to help support a cause near and dear to their hearts: Girls Inc., an organization whose simple goal is also a very powerful one; inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. Through a variety of fun and educational programs, they provide more than 140,000 girls across Canada and the United States with life-changing solutions, as well as enriching learning experiences. The Sarasota Team adopted a family of four—a single mother and her three daughters—through Girls Inc. After each Team Member purchased gifts for the family, they hand-delivered the toys and presents on Monday, December 19th, sending a little holiday cheer to those in need. Feel like getting involved? Cincinnati, OH
Keeping their 8-year tradition alive, our Cincinnati Team helped transport over 50 boxes of donations to more than 400 impoverished children in Beattyville, Kentucky. The donations of clothing, toys and essentials were collected at the Good Shepherd Catholic church in Evendale, Ohio. Team Member Kylan Wilson went above and beyond, offering to pick up and drive the donations all the way to Beattyville during his time off. By playing Santa for a day, Kylan delivered more than just gifts; he brought a smile to many children’s faces!
We’re so proud of our Access family—both our ambitious Team Members and thoughtful clients—and their generous spirits. Thank you for working together to make this a Positively Different holiday season!
