ProfilePictureEarth Day 2016 was, by far, one of our most successful collection drives to date! Our Shred Event stretched across the nation, thanks to the participation of so many of our local branches, and allowed us to make the 50 th anniversary of Earth Day one for the books. We not only collected more than 113,500 pounds of paper to be shredded and recycled, but we were also able to collect food and monetary donations to support local foodbanks! The following list is not exhaustive, but we wanted to highlight some of our local Teams and the efforts they put in:

Our Hawaii Team partnered with the AARP this year, and saw their largest shred event turnout ever! Nearly 950 cars showed up at their Oahu, Maui and Big Island Destruction Centers to donate food and drop off old documents and files, for a total of:

  • 74,000 pounds of shredded materials
  • 4,205 pounds of food

Our Wisconsin Team ran ads in the Cap Times and the State Journal to promote a two-day shred event that also benefited the Second Harvest Foodbank. The food and monetary donations helped support the Foodbank’s Mobile Pantry and Kids Café, which provides free meals, snacks and nutrition education through neighborhood centers.

More than 425 cars showed up to donate:

  • 20,669 pounds of shredded materials
  • 142 pounds of food
  • $3,206.25 of monetary donations

Our Indianapolis Team took Earth Day to the next level by providing goody bags to our local clients! This personal touch was just one more way that we could express our commitment to our clients, while also supporting our Earth.

“We have been coming for the past few years and really appreciate this.”

While our customers were quick to express their appreciation for the local events, we definitely share their enthusiasm. In fact, our gratitude to the local branches for organizing the events, and the community members for participating, simply cannot be expressed. Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts.
